AI and licenses
In short
- The Master is an AI. It tells the story, and it can make mistakes: you are welcome to correct it.
- The game's code, not the AI, decides dice results, whether attacks hit, coins, experience and rests.
- You make every choice about your character.
- The game rules come from the 5th edition System Reference Document, used under a Creative Commons license. The required notice is at the bottom of this page.
How the Master works
An artificial intelligence writes the story, plays the characters you meet and describes the consequences of what you do. It follows the rules we give it, but like a human narrator it can sometimes forget a detail or contradict itself. If that happens, say so in the game.
The Master does not decide the numbers. The game's own code rolls and checks dice, decides whether an attack hits, and keeps track of your coins, experience and rests. And you choose your character's spells, skills and actions: the game never picks them for you.
What you write is sent to an AI provider to produce each reply, and we tell you so before you start and when you sign up. The details are in the privacy policy.
Fiction, not advice
Everything the Master says is fiction. It is not factual, medical, legal or financial advice. Some campaigns deal with dark themes such as violence or loss, and show a content warning before you begin.
