Terms of use
In short
- Traveler's Diary is a solo role-playing game narrated by an AI. It is in beta: it can change, and your progress is not guaranteed.
- Each Master reply to an action of yours uses one turn. Payments are not live yet.
- You write the story and keep your rights to it. Please do not use bots, scripts or tricks to get the Master's hidden instructions.
- Italian law applies, and nothing here limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
1. Who we are and what you agree to
These terms govern your use of Traveler's Diary (the "service"), run by Matteo Cristofoli ("we"). By creating an account, ticking the acceptance box and using the game you agree to them. Our privacy policy, the page on cookies and local storage and the page on AI and licenses are part of this agreement.
2. Your account
- You must be 16 or older, confirm it when you sign up, and give us a real email address you can read.
- Keep your password and any invitation code to yourself. You are responsible for what happens through your account.
- Tell us at privacy@travelersdiary.app if you think someone else is using your account.
3. The service is in beta
We are still building the game. Features, campaigns, prices and limits can change, and parts can stop working. We work to keep your characters safe, but during the beta we cannot guarantee that saved progress will never be lost or reset.
4. Turns and payments
- One Master reply to an action of yours uses one turn. Dice rolls the Master asks you to make and leveling up do not use turns. A free roll (the always-visible dice) uses one turn.
- New accounts start with a small number of free turns.
- Paid turn packs and monthly plans are planned, but payments are not live yet: nothing can be bought today and nothing is charged. Monthly plans will renew automatically every month until you cancel. You will be able to cancel at any time from your account (the «Cancel subscription» button, already there): the plan stays active until the end of the month you paid for. Turns from a monthly plan are valid until the next renewal (unused ones do not carry over to the following month); free turns and single packs stay in your balance, except for offers with a validity period stated at purchase. When real payments start, we will state the prices, taxes, billing, renewal, cancellation and refund terms here before you pay.
5. The AI Master
The Master is an artificial intelligence. It can make mistakes, forget details or invent things, and it tells fiction, not facts or advice. You make the choices for your character, and you are free to correct the Master. Some campaigns deal with dark themes and show a content warning before you start. Read more on the AI and licenses page.
6. Using the service properly
You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts or other automated means to play or to send requests in bulk, since every request has a real cost for us;
- try to extract, reconstruct or bypass the Master's hidden instructions or the limits of the service;
- share, sell or transfer your account, or use someone else's;
- use the service for anything illegal, or to harass or harm others;
- look for or exploit security weaknesses. If you find one, tell us at privacy@travelersdiary.app instead.
7. Your content and ours
You keep your rights to what you write. You give us permission to store it, process it and send it to our AI provider, only as needed to run the service. The game, the Master, the campaigns and the design belong to us or our licensors. The Master's replies are for your personal use.
8. Suspension and ending
You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account yourself from the account window in the game, or ask us to do it. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after warning you where reasonable.
9. Our responsibility
We provide the service as it is, and we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. Within the limits of the law, we are not liable for indirect losses or for loss of fictional progress. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or the rights you have as a consumer.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date above and, for important changes, tell you by email or in the game and ask you to accept again. If you do not accept, you can delete your account.
11. Law and disputes
Italian law governs these terms. Disputes go to the courts of Treviso, unless a mandatory rule gives you the right to use the courts of the place where you live.
